About The Event

Physician Virtual Social 102920
Event Type: Physician Event

ChenMed’s patients and physicians thrive in a relationship-centered model of care. In a recent study found in American Journal of Preventive Cardiology, University of Miami and ChenMed researchers discovered “high-touch primary care, coupled with early heart disease prevention, reduced the risk of dying from COVID-19 among elderly patients by 40%.”

Join ChenMed’s Primary Care experts and patient advocates, Dr. Dan McCarter, Dr. Sheila Kemper, and Dr. James Harrington, as they explain the foundations of Value-Based Care and why it outweighs the volume benefits of the fee-for-service model.

About the Speakers:

About Dr. Sheila Kemper: While in high school, Dr. Sheila M. Kemper shadowed a surgeon that saved her father’s life. It’s what inspired her to become a physician. Since then, Dr. Kemper, has cared for people of all ages. In her opinion, “seniors are the most enjoyable to serve.” She has great respect for the lives they’ve lived and their knowledge. Dr. Kemper especially enjoys building trusting relationships that lead to transformation. “I love seeing them take charge of their health and improve their quality of life.”

About Dr. James “Rusty” Harrington: Since childhood, Dr. James Harrington has always been curious about science and the human body – particularly the mind-body connection. In college, he realized his interests in science and medicine could lead him to help change lives for the better. Dr. Harrington specializes in internal medicine. He chose to work with seniors because they often need an advocate to speak for them and help them through a complicated healthcare system, whether their problem is simple or life-threatening.
