About the Speakers:

About Dr. Dan McCarter: Dr. McCarter specializes in family medicine and population health. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia, doctorate from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, and completed his family medicine residency at the University of Virginia Health System. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Virginia Academy of Family Physicians, the Medical Society of Virginia and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine.

About Dr. Andrew Nelson: Dr. Nelson studied biology at the University of Texas at Austin and earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He completed residencies in family and aerospace medicine at the University of Missouri and the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute in Pensacola, Florida, respectively. He also holds a Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana.

About Dr. Lisa Jefferson: Over the years, Dr. Jefferson has enjoyed caring for whole families—from grandparent to new grandchild—and she is honored to focus on seniors here. “I always look forward to visits with my senior patients,” says Dr. Jefferson, who is board certified in family medicine and obesity medicine. “I love getting to know them as I help them reach their goals and manage their health.” 

About Dr. Lisa Price-Stevens: As a board-certified physician and Chief Medical Officer who’s a native of this community, Dr. Price-Stevens feels privileged to support seniors here. “There is so much to gain from this generation and they deserve quality care,” she says. Dr. Stevens first realized her calling at 7 years old—after spending time at the hospital where her mom worked and saving a family member using the Heimlich maneuver. “With patients today,” Dr. 

About Dr. Vijay Jaligam: When Dr. Jaligam was in the 10th grade, he witnessed something amazing: his friend, who’d contracted rabies from a dog bite, started healing within three days of receiving therapy. It was this kind of healing transformation that captured his interest and eventually led him into medicine. “I remembered that time during my first days of practice in India,” says Dr. Jaligam. “My mother suggested that I start a free clinic, and so I did. As I worked with my patients, I realized that this was my dream – to bring compassionate care and healing to those in need.
